1. Local Browser Processing by Default

For normal day-to-day use, Compare Heights operates locally inside your web browser. When you add individuals, adjust measurements, toggle silhouette archetypes, or customize colors, all calculations and visual updates are performed on your local device.

This temporary workspace data is kept in your browser's active memory and is not transmitted to our servers during standard usage.

2. Client-Side Image Downloads (PNG Export)

When you choose to export your comparison card as a PNG image, the image is composed directly within your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. The file is saved directly to your device's download folder.

The generated graphic is never uploaded to, transmitted across, or stored on our servers as part of the download functionality.

3. Intentionally Created Share Links

Data is only transmitted to our servers when you intentionally click the 'Share' button to generate a public comparison link.

When you create a share link, the application submits a normalized payload containing:

• Participant names (sanitized, up to 50 characters each)

• Height values and the selected measurement unit (cm or feet/inches)

• Silhouette archetype (e.g., adult male, adult female, child) and variant index

• Selected display color (hex format)

• Celebrity flag status (if selected from the built-in dataset)

Our database records this normalized comparison structure alongside a unique 7-character alphanumeric share code and a creation timestamp.

4. Public Nature of Shared Links

Any comparison saved via a share link is public. Anyone who possesses or receives the unique /c/CODE URL can view that comparison lineup in their browser.

Because shared links are accessible to anyone with the URL, you should never include sensitive personal information, private contact details, passwords, or confidential identifiers in participant names.

5. What Our Current Codebase Does Not Collect

To provide transparent insight into our technical architecture, the Compare Heights application currently does NOT:

• Require or create user accounts, logins, or passwords

• Collect or store email addresses through the comparison tool

• Store IP addresses in the shared comparison database

• Generate or store browser fingerprints

• Request or record device geolocation data

• Use tracking, advertising, or persistent session cookies

• Load Google Analytics or third-party behavioral analytics tracking scripts

These statements accurately reflect the verified behavior of our current codebase.

6. Celebrity & Public Figure Dataset

The heights and profiles available through the Celebrity Search feature are drawn from a pre-compiled, static reference dataset (celebrities.json) maintained within the application repository. This information is derived from publicly accessible references and does not constitute personal data submitted by visitors.

7. Contact & Policy Updates

Compare Heights is operated as an open, free web utility without registered user accounts or personalized support channels. Should our technical architecture or data practices change in the future, this document will be updated to describe the active operational state of the site.
